Four of us went to the Durham Ox today for lunch. I can honestly say it was lovely. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. I had the Thimbleby (Hunter's) chicken with chip's and side salad, the chicken was so moist and the chips were lovely. Two fish and chips and a gammon were ordered also and every plate was clean when we'd finished. The place itself is very homely. I also had my father's wake there a year ago and everything was spot on. I would definitely recommend it.
What a gem of a place, beautiful country pub. We had Sunday lunch the pork was beautiful, the Beef amazing, vegetables cooked to perfection, a really good pint of Batemans and a good quality coffee. Prices reasonable as well.What's not to like.
Excellent food and great value. We had the Thursday night steak deal which is a 2 person deal on steak plus a bottle of wine for 29. The food and wine were great and smashing service. Highly recommended and check out the web site for other deals. Will definitely go back in the near future.
Called in for an impromptu Sunday lunch after having our car washed in Horncastle. We hadn't booked so didn't know if we would get a table but thought we would give it a go. We were given a lovely warm welcome and taken to a table straight away. The service was very friendly and we were made to feel welcome straight away. The food was lovely, well cooked and plenty of it. I even had a dessert (which is unusual for me), Christmas Sundae... amazing! We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
Came up on Google as a recommended place as it was similar to other pubs we've been to. We stopped in on the off-chance for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. We hadn't booked but we were made to feel extremely welcome. The lunch menu was quite simple, but had something for everyone and the quality of food was fantastic. Add to this some top quality beer, friendly staff and a warm cozy atmosphere what's not to like?Go to the Durham Ox, you won't be disappointed *****
